Engineering Program Manager

Lightfleet is building an engineering organization that is moving, well, at the speed of light. Problems are being identified and resolved, decisions are being made, technologies comprehended, solutions identified, all at a break neck pace. We need someone to make sure that we do not lose the value of this creativity.

Our Engineering Program Manager will initially put the infrastructure in place to ensure that innovation can be built on innovation but still rolled rapidly into a high quality product that will hit the market on time and as specified. Standard capabilities such as document control, issue tracking, bug tracking, source control, schedule tracking are all needed, but they are needed in a structure that can be deployed quickly and used collaboratively with low overhead that allow the line engineering teams to apply their skills and experience to solve design problems. As our company matures so will the nature and role of this position, most likely in the direction of spearheading several high profile multi-disciplinary programs through the very product development processes that the successful candidate will initially be creating.

CORE RESPONSIBLITIES

Help engineering line management to execute a well disciplined development process by providing methods and capabilities including but not limited to:

  • Document Control
  • Issue and bug management
  • Milestone Reviews
  • Schedule Creation and Tracking
  • Performance Metrics
  • Configuration Management
  • Source Control

Provide a communications focus as the product rolls out of development and into production.

Ensure that no vital task is left un-done and that no detail is missed.

Anything else that may come up in a start up environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline
  • 10 years professional experience with at least 5 years management experience
  • Successful program or line management track record in a high tech product development organization that spans several product cycles.
  • Extensive background in Cross Functional solving problem
  • Strong communications skills; written, oral and aural.

  • Advanced degree
  • Experience with formal quality systems
  • Painful memories of past experiences that fuel a drive to help us avoid such experiences.
  • Prior success in a start up environment.
  • Operations background
  • Experience with quality issues in product development organizations.
  • Strong track record implementing engineering management infrastructures.
